I can’t take any credit for the newsletters that have been put up on the internet. There are a lot of great people out there that have taken the time to scan them and put them up. There are others that compile them for access. I want to have a nice list of them, so the public can easily access and read them. This is something I hope to accomplish with this page. The newsletters that have been released about Ron Paul are often stripped down to the main racist, homophobic, crazy, conspiracy theory stuff. I’m looking for as much as possible on the subject, so that everyone can see it all. If you can contribute more to this site please leave a comment below.
I would like to thank the original site that first brought light to this. The New Republic had a story titled Angry White Men and brought the newsletters to life.
I’ll give you the a simple run down of Ron Paul’s explanation of his side of the story. Ron Paul’s opponent in 1996 first brought up the newsletters to try and show him as an extremist. At the time Paul didn’t deny he had written them, but that they were being taken “out of context” [source]. Later Paul changed his excuse and said that it was a ghost writer that was behind it [source]. He said he rarely ever read the newsletters that went out, though this newsletter business earned an estimated $940,000 [source]. Even if you believe Ron Paul didn’t write the letters, he sure did profit from it.
